Product Description

A Christmas tradition, all round this land, from the city to the country, from the bush to the sand, in a shiny red truck instead of a sleigh, Santa sets out on his jolly old way. But this fire truck has seen better days. It creaks and rattles and groans as Santa makes his rounds. It will take a miracle to get through Christmas Eve... With beautiful illustrations by Nathaniel Eckstrom, this is an energetic and delightful celebration of a wonderful Aussie tradition.

A small town rejoices when Santa rides around in a battered fire truck, delivering presents. But when his fire truck needs repairs, the children of the community need to step in with makeshift solutions. Towards the end of the book, the fire truck breaks down completely. Santa encourages the community by telling them their support has meant everything, and thanks to their help, they can at last afford a brand new fire engine. Santa departs in his sleigh, leaving behind the fire engine. The book includes photos of volunteer Santas in small communities, with some special pictures of the real Fire Truck Santa.
