Sam meets Tess while he is on holiday on the island of Texel. He's a boy who feels different from others, always asking deep questions and pondering unusual scenarios. He and Sam instantly form a deep friendship — so deep that Tess invites Sam along on her journey to get know her father, whom she's about to meet for the first time. The thing is, Tess's father doesn't even know his daughter exists. Throughout their week together, Tess and Sam try to figure out whether telling Hugo he has a daughter is the right thing to do... or whether it would be better to leave things as they are.
