Product Description

Sometimes we must do things we don't want to, even if they frighten us. Royal Blue is a royal racing pigeon from a long line of champions. Every morning he wakes in his comfortable loft at Sandringham House, eats the very best seeds and spends the day training with his best friend to be the fastest and strongest pigeon in Britain. But there's a war going on, and things are changing. Then one day the King himself comes to the loft and chooses Blue for a very special assignment. As Blue goes on missions, helping with rescues, carrying secret messages and facing dangers he never could have imagined, one thing will become clear- never underestimate a pigeon.

Spies in the Sky is a middle fiction read from the perspective of a pigeon who won an award in the second world war. Bringing to life Pigeons with feelings and concerns, it highlights some of the heroes of war, some animals who were even acknowledged with prestige and awards. Royal Blue is a racing pigeon who is certain that, given his lineage, he will be one of the next famous racers. His Great-Great Grandfather won races for the King. Royal Blue practices and races and even sneaks out of his cage to practice more! Blue and Kahn are the best of friends, even though Blue is more confident about his future as a successful racer. There is a lot of excitement as the King comes to visit. When the King picks Royal Blue for a special task, he assumes he is in for a big race, not to be a war pigeon. But Blue is signed up to the National Pigeon Service and must train hard and travel far away.
