abduction, resilience, faith, trauma, healing,
18-year-old Diana Jacobsen dreams of being a journalist. She leaves Tellarine and settles into life in Melbourne. Throughout the story, she writes journals to her deceased mum. A year-and-a-half into her university course, she and a friend enter an ominous sandwich shop where her friend disappears and a man drugs Diana. The man takes Diana to a vehicle and drives to the local police station. He hands Diana a USB of information about a local human/sex trafficking ring, walks them both inside, and shoots himself in the head. Amid confusion and fear, Diana forges ahead. She defers her education and clings to her unshakeable faith in God with her family’s support, seeking respite in Tellarine. A powerful story about faith and suffering through trauma and heartbreak. This is the second book in the Tellarine series but can stand alone.
