Silvester and his wife, Belinda, have spent their lives running Silvester’s Magical Puppet Theatre. However, it has been many years since they put on a show. Although there was nothing supernatural about them, Silvester’s storytelling and quick hands made the shows seem magical. After Belinda passed away, Silvester moved into the small flat below his workshop, where he made all the puppets and accessories. The local museum wants to exhibit his work, so Silvester donates his puppets, the scenery, costumes and curtains. However, Silvester decides to make one last puppet from the remaining bits of wood. Because he only has leftover pieces, the puppet is a little odd. Something about the puppet makes Silvester reluctant to add strings, so he doesn’t. He dresses him in a shirt and trousers. Before going to bed, he says hello to the puppet. Unexpectedly, the puppet responds. A hopeful story about the magic of storytelling and the joy of imagination, with elements that will appeal to theatre enthusiasts.
