When Kidan starts at Uxlay University, she moves in with Susenyos. Susenyos is her family’s dranaic (vampire), and Kidan is expected to become his companion. A vampire feeds on their companions, and both the vampire and the human benefit from the relationship. However, Kidan is determined to prove that Susenyos is evil. Their relationship is initially full of hate, and Susenyos claims he cannot leave as Kidan’s family house has been left to him.
