When Tchaikovsky asks for a 12-year-old ballerina to play Clara in the Nutcracker, Stana describes how the music makes her think of Christmas and her family. After hearing about how she delights in the music, Stana is chosen to perform the part, much to the envy of her friends. Stana hopes it will help her mother pay for her younger sister's medical expenses. Stana performs well and although the audience applauds, the reviews are terrible.
