Lani is a young teenager who wants to be a scientist like her idol, Kit Galway. Lani loves Kit's life and has memorised his book called “The Meaning of the Universe”. Kit is going to judge the Champion Cup and the winner will get to be his lab assistant for a day. Lani desperately wants to win and is worried about how she is going to impress him. Both Lani and her mum are super neat and organised. Her mum wants to send her to an alternative lifestyle place called Passing Water, but Lani is not interested. She hopes that her mum will have forgotten about it by the time a spot becomes available. Unfortunately, Lani comes home from school to find her bags have been packed. Her mum has paid the deposit and they are both going now.
