Product Description

Losing one parent was devastating. Now, a long-held grudge has taken her father. Can she change a jealous knight's mind before she loses another? Ruby's mother taught her to be kind and compassionate. Even after the Lady's untimely death, she holds tight to the ideal of caring for all the fiefdom's subjects. But when an envious rival throws her honorable cavalier father in the castle prison, she faces the biggest challenge of her life--forgiving her worst enemy. Grateful to the kindly villager who takes her in, Ruby still pines for her father. And painful though it is, she knows the only way to free him is to change his stubborn heart. Can she break chains forged from years of anger and jealousy? Ruby's Castle is a middle grade children's book for fans of medieval fiction. If you and your child like moral lessons, close family ties, and exciting adventures, then you'll both adore Christine Draper's fun, faith-filled tale.

Ruby’s parents, Rosalinda and Analan, are well-loved rulers throughout their kingdom. Rosalinda often frequents the town to help those in need, and she doesn’t treat them any differently because they are poor. Ruby starts making these visits with her mother and hopes to be as wise as her one day. A knight from a neighbouring kingdom, Luciturn, has been angry with Analan since childhood. Analan often overshadowed Luciturn, and Luciturn never forgave him. Analan is good friends with one of his subjects, Tristan, who once saved him from a wild boar. Tristan, his wife Clara, his son Maxwell, and his daughter Isabella, often visit Analan’s family. After Maxwell bravely helps extinguish a dreadful fire, Analan notices his potential as a knight and offers to take him on as a squire. Tristan and Maxwell are both honoured, as Maxwell is not from nobility. Soon after, Rosalinda dies from an incurable illness and Ruby starts caring for those in the village. However, she is not able to for long. Luciturn finds out that Analan has taken a poor man as a squire, and he is furious. He kidnaps Analan, taking over their kingdom and leaving Ruby homeless. Will Ruby be able to save him and restore their kingdom?
