In 1916, Professor Mikkel Jacobsen leaves his life of luxury in Copenhagen to take up a position as archaeology Professor at Sheffield University. An accident at Sheffield Manor involving a child called Deborah reveals a tapestry thought to have belonged to Mary Queen of Scots. Two German spies employed by the Kaiser, Otto Schmidt and Gustav Richter, have been searching for the tapestry. They believe that within the stitching is a map to a valuable Biblical artefact, the broken stones of Moses' wrath. They steal the tapestry from the child by threatening her mother’s life. The shock causes Deborah to become mute. Mikkel is asked to prove the tapestry’s origin and soon realises its significance. As he uncovers its secrets, he suspects the Germans are nefarious and hides his revelations from them. After finding a locked steel door under Sheffield castle, Mikkel encounters an angel warning him the 'Stones of Wrath' should not fall into the wrong hands. The stones have an appointment with the future and Mikkel is chosen to be their protector. An intriguing mystery story set during World War 1 with valuable messages about faith, perseverance, and love. Contains threads of Biblical and Tudor history.
