This book picks up directly after the first book ends with Whitford manipulating Inez into marrying him and proceeding to steal all her inheritance. The money is used for a good purpose in saving Whit’s sister from an unwanted marriage due to their father’s gambling, but it doesn’t deny the pain and betrayal Whit causes after only one night of happiness for Inez. In their search for Cleopatra’s legacy, twists and reveals force Inez to finally decide who she really trusts. A fun, engaging mystery full of magic and intrigue set in 1800s Egypt.
