Shilo Giannelli is 5 years old when she first experiences an unexpected response to prayer—God works through her to heal an injured dog. 11 years later, this experience has become a dim memory. Shilo learns that her beloved Aunt Rita is dying of cancer. Her mother, Annie, is torn between wanting her sister healed and protecting Shilo from the challenges of being known as a healer. Shilo meets Tyler at the hospital, a 2-year-old boy suffering from a ruptured spleen, broken ribs and arm and facial injuries as a result of domestic violence. The next day, his mother, Misty, asks Shilo to pray for him. Again, as in her childhood, Shilo experiences the vision of large, strong hands over her own, radiating light as she prays. Tyler’s body and Misty’s heart are healed. Annie offers to help Misty, providing her with food and clothing, helping her into a women’s shelter and reuniting her with her foster parents. Annie reveals that Shilo has a God-given gift. A powerful story about God’s power to heal with insights into two different lives, a teen mum who is the victim of domestic violence and a middle-class family.
