For Spring Break, a group of friends are staying at a private beach lodge on the Oregon coast. With no adults around, the teens are ready to have fun and relax. However, their relationships bring more complications than they expected. Piper is determined to create drama by provoking the others with her constant live streams and attitude. Historical romances and negative school experiences are also brimming under the surface. This includes the fact that Eva's older brother, Miles, was accused of contract cheating and robbed of a promising after-school career. When Piper receives a note, Danny and Javier start to fight. Javier assumes that Danny is not over Piper, his ex-girlfriend, but the true story is more complex. For their first night of Spring Break, the group lights a campfire on the beach. However, Danny and Piper go missing. Although Eva is worried, she is sure that Piper's constant social media posts are a good sign. But with clues easily missed, the next morning, Danny returns in a police car. While the police don't tell them immediately, it is revealed that Piper is dead, likely murdered, and it was most likely done by one of them.
