While separately travelling to see each of their parents, Bailey and Charlie meet on a plane. Bailey instantly dislikes Charlie, but it is not the only time they meet. A couple of years later, they run into each other again, both with their romantic partners and still uninterested in talking to each other. But when they end up working together, they are forced to speak. When Bailey's close friend starts talking to a guy in their workplace who is not their boyfriend, Bailey hopes that men and women can just be friends. However, Charlie is convinced they can't, so they bet on whether their colleagues will end up together. Bailey soon discovers that her mother has a new boyfriend and is disappointed and upset. Charlie wants to help her break them up, but he needs to meet them in person. To achieve this, he pretends to be her boyfriend. When a waterskiing weekend is organised, Bailey pretends to bring her best friend but arrives with Charlie instead. Will Bailey and Charlie succeed with their plan or will their ideas on love be challenged unexpectedly?
