Following the same core plot line as the original story, Emma on Thin Icing is retold as a graphic novel. Life has been chaotic at Emma’s place since her mum’s work hours have been cut. Money is tight, and everyone has to pitch in to help. When Mia’s mum asks the girls to be bridesmaids, everyone is really excited—except for Emma. All she can think about is the effect it will have on her family. She can’t bear to ask her parents for money when things are already difficult, so she determines to raise the money herself. The problems come when her plate gets increasingly full and things start to get missed, including picking up her little brother! Instead of asking for help, Emma decides to try harder … but by carrying her burdens alone, Emma's friendships are affected. A sweet story with a valuable message about communication, sharing problems and burdens, and asking for help.
