On the night before Christmas, a boy is woken up by a clatter out on the lawn. He sprang up from his bed and looked out the window to find eight reindeer dashing across the snow. They pulled a slay with a little old driver the boy knows to be St. Nicholas. St. Nick drives the reindeer up onto the house's roof and climbs down the chimney with a bundle of toys.
