It's been three months since Lily found her sister, Alice, on the bathroom floor. It looked like a suicide attempt. Now Lily and her family pretend that Alice is off at university. If Lily doesn't talk about what happened, school is fine. But Lily can’t even visit Alice and finds all their family conversations uncomfortable. At school, Lily meets Micah. When he reveals that he knows Alice from the place she was getting treatment and has also survived a suicide attempt, Lily doesn’t want anything to do with him. They are forced to work together on a school project and realise they have more in common than she thought. Using poetry, Lily’s voice, and Micah’s art, they leave messages around the school that start to get people talking. No one knows they are publishing them. Lily wants to enter the project into a scholarship program. As Micah shares more about what he went through and his joy for life as he looks to the future, he and Lily grow closer. But when Alice returns home, things are more difficult. Will things ever return to normal after Lily encounters her own anxiety?
