After exploring throughout the day, a young boy watches the sunset. He plays among Australian animals and native plants, including wattles and possums. His mother holds him between the gum trees, eventually bringing him inside to read a bedtime story. While she recites a lullaby, several kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, platypuses, stingrays, koalas, and echidnas are pictured calmly gathering their young and going to sleep in their natural habitats. As a full moon rises, the mother promises to look over the boy as he falls asleep. In his bed, he is surrounded by soft toys resembling the animals from the lullaby.
