In the third instalment of the Penny Draws series, Penny’s new twin siblings come home. She loves telling her dog, Cosmo, about her life through journal-style writing with quirky illustrations. When Penny discovers a key to a mysterious box, she wants to tell her friends. However, she can't get in contact with them. Inside the box is a treasure map, and when she finally tells her friends, they start following the clues. One clue takes them past the witch’s house. Although Penny isn't sure that Ursula is a witch, she is convinced. They follow the clue and successfully find the next piece. At the next clue, they can only find a missing locker and a weird smell. Penny thinks the smell is Riley's lip balm and is convinced Riley is trying to steal the adventure and find the treasure. The next clue leads them to Penny’s house, and Riley’s mum and Riley appear. Penny is suspicious. Is Riley foiling their plans to find the treasure?
